Post-Lockdown Church Documentary

As part of the interviews, I asked the interviewees to find a passage from the bible which they felt perfectly reflected the current situation that we live in to compliment the interview. Both found it tough and my second interviewee, Rev Garry Grady, gave me a few different ones so I felt that Simon Whitcombe’s, my first Interviewee’s, response was the best (as well as fit in with the time frame). They also both gave explanations to why they chose those passages, to which Simon said; “So, I was asked to choose a bible reading which might have something to say about COVID 19 and the lockdown. Which I found quite difficult actually, but in the end, I chose one of the psalms because the psalms tend to speak about the reality of life and things that are really challenging, they don’t ovoid that and how you hang onto faith despite that. And it’s certainly been very challenging for people with the pandemic and the lockdown; and certainly, some people may have felt that the person who wrote this psalm, he may have been in a different situation, the enemy might have been a physical enemy for him but for us it’s been this virus”.
The video below is voiced by Simon Whitcombe who is the senior chaplain at the Fancis Close Hall Chapel and has been a senior member of the church for 30 years as of the recording (acting as vicar for 27 of those years in various Paris churches).

In an interview with Revd. Gary Grady, he talks about the situations of the churches under his care (being the area dean of Cheltenham) as well as was what plans he has for the future during lockdown procedures easing and churches gradual reopening. This is a longer film as he talked more about the environment with which the churches currently find themselves than Simon did- with addition to providing 3 quotes instead of 1 which made the Simons flow better as a short video.
